About us
At PBSS Newcastle, we genuinely care about making a difference in your life. We value positive behaviour support that is function-specific, grounded in scientific research, and specifically tailored to meet your individual needs and circumstances.
We do not view people who display challenging behaviour as a problem to be solved. Rather we view the challenging behaviour as another form of communication. The goal of behaviour support is to understand what the behaviour is communicating and then supporting the person and their support networks to meet those needs in alternative, more positive ways. We also offer skill building programs including developing social and emotional wellbeing, intensive toileting training, PECs training, and building self-confidence.
Our philosophy is to meet you where you are at, and provide services to support you in a way that is individualised to you and your needs. Our approach focuses extensively on building relationships, understanding your circumstances, and working with you to move towards your goals at a pace that suits you.
We offer comprehensive, individualised services that aim to improve quality of life in collaboration with you.
Our mission is to make positive behaviour support accessible to people of all ages, no matter your geographical location. We noticed that people living in rural and remote communities were unable to access behaviour support services due to an overall shortage of qualified clinicians in rural areas. We passionate about people being able to access to the services they need and deserve, and with the progression of technology thanks to COVID-19, decided to embrace telehealth services and offer full behaviour support services to these otherwise inaccessible communities, with overwhelming success. We have found that behaviour support can be completed very effectively via telehealth using a mixture of video calls, emails, texts and phone calls.
